Deadline for Submitting 2016 4R Advocate Nominations is Nov. 6
Earlier this month, The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) launched the 2016 4R Advocate Awards Program with a call for entries from retailers wishing to highlight the exceptional nutrient stewardship practices of their grower customers. The 4R Advocate Award Program, now in its fifth year, recognizes farmers and their retail agronomist who are protecting the environment, boosting profitability and benefiting society through 4R nutrient stewardship practices. Under program rules, farmers are nominated by their retail dealers who are also recognized as 4R Advocates.
4R Advocates provide real world examples of implementing fertilizer best management practices to mitigate nutrient loss, improve yields and enhance nutrient use efficiency on the farm. Their experiences help us promote nutrient stewardship.
In 2016, five winning grower and retailer pairs (including a guest for each) will be awarded an expense-paid trip to the Commodity Classic, scheduled for March 3-5 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Commodity Classic is the once-a-year, can’t-miss event for America’s soybean, corn, wheat and sorghum farmers. At the Classic, 4R Advocate winners will see the latest agricultural innovations first-hand, meet other growers and agricultural leaders from across the nation, and will be honored at an invitation-only 4R banquet. Entries for the 2016 4R Advocate Awards are due November 6, 2015. A nomination form, information about past winners, and additional details on the program are available at http://www.nutrientstewardship.com/4r-advocate. Winners will be announced in mid-December.
