OSU Extension Positions Available, Program Coordinators – Nutrient Management Plan Writers

The Ohio State University Extension is hiring four program coordinators located throughout the Western Lake Erie Basin. These positions will work with cooperating farmers to develop Nutrient Management Plans (NMP) in the Western Lake Erie Basin area of Ohio utilizing software provided; increase awareness, market program availability, and work with cooperating organizations on outreach; become proficient in the software package used to develop plans; serve as a resource for private sector plan developers on software used to develop plans; support Fertilizer Applicator Certification Training programs and other water quality focused efforts in the region conducted by OSU Extension; maintain records and reports for all activities, as required by the sponsor agency and by OSU Extension; maintain confidentiality of participants and their individual records; work individually, and in group settings where appropriate, to gather information needed to complete a Nutrient Management Plan; record soil test, landscape characteristic, and equipment and agronomic information in the software package to develop a Nutrient Management Plan report; identify high risk nutrient loss areas and direct client to Best Management Practice resources that may lower the risk; use standardized evaluation instruments to assess program participants’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to determine educational needs and program impacts; provide troubleshooting and software-use support to private entities engaged in Nutrient Management Plan development activities; recruit and maintain contact with collaborating organizations, agencies, and programs; market Nutrient Management Plans to farmers and landowners; and be visible at Fertilizer Applicator Certification Training programs to market the program.
