4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program featured on Town Hall Ohio radio show

May 27, 2014

Ohio AgriBusiness Association's Chris Henney and Nature Conservancy's Carrie Vollmer-Sanders discuss the 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification program on Ohio Farm Bureau's Town Hall Ohio radio program.

Chris Henney, president and CEO of the Ohio AgriBusiness Association, and Carrie Vollmer-Sanders, Western Lake Erie project director for the Nature Conservancy, joined Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Senior Director of Policy Development and Environmental Policy, Dr. Larry Antosch, in late May on Ohio Farm Bureau’s weekly Town Hall Ohio radio program to discuss water quality issues, the 4R approach to nutrient stewardship, and the new 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program for ag retailers — part of a long-term effort to improve the quality of Lake Erie’s water.

Town Hall Ohio host Joe Cornely moderated the discussion, which ranged from analyzing water quality issues, the responsibility assumed by the agriculture community to do something about it, the 4Rs of nutrient stewardship, and the wide-ranging and broad support for the new 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification program.

Listen to the entire broadcast below or at townhallohio.org.

The 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program is governed and guided by the Nutrient Stewardship Council, a diverse set of stakeholders from business, government, university and non-governmental sectors with a common goal of maintaining agricultural productivity while also improving the quality of Lake Erie and its contributing watersheds. The program is administered by the Ohio AgriBusiness Association. For more information, visit4Rcertified.org, email info@oaba.net or call 614-326-7520.
