Industry Experts to Gather in Jacksonville, Fla., for 2015 Fertilizer Outlook and Technology Conference

October 28, 2015

The latest information on fertilizer supply and demand, agriculture, nutrient and technology outlooks, and opportunities for the industry will be on the agenda at The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) and the Fertilizer Industry Roundtable’s upcoming Fertilizer Outlook and Technology Conference. The conference, which will be held Nov. 10-12, 2015, in Jacksonville, Fla., draws a diverse audience including representatives of fertilizer producers, wholesalers and retailers, agronomists, engineers, financial analysts, business consultants, government analysts and technical and manufacturing company representatives.

The conference opens with a panel on fertilizer industry challenges and opportunities “Industry Policy Insights – Exploring What Matters Today.” Lara Moody and Kathy Mathers of TFI, Rosemary O’Brien of CF Industries, Inc., and Jean Payne, president of Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association, will explore relevant topics such as the environment, safety and security and reputation management. Tuesday’s second panel, “U.S. Fertilizer Demand and Nutrient Use Issues,” offers an exploratory look at some of the factors influencing U.S. fertilizer nutrient demand – where it’s been, where it is, and where it may be heading. The panel will feature Fred Below from the University Illinois, Paul Fixen and Tom Bruulsema of the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI), and Harry Vroomen of TFI.

On day two of the conference, Wayne Welter, TFI Economics Council Vice Chairman and Market Analyst at J.R. Simplot, will moderate TFI’s Fertilizer Outlook Session. Outlook speakers will address what the upcoming year will bring for major crops like corn, soy and wheat, as well as potash, sulphur, phosphate and nitrogen, and the outlook for natural gas.

The Fertilizer Industry Round Table (FIRT) will hold its Fertilizer Technology Session Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. Session topics include “Bringing Science, Production, and Conservation Together”; “Building a Business Case for Producing More with Less”; and “Using Precision Data to Improve Soil Health.”

Other conference highlights include the presentation of FIRT’s 2015 Innovative Technologies Advancing the Fertilizer Industry Award.

For further information on the conference speakers and agenda, please visit the Outlook and Technology Conference website, or contact Kathy Mathers at (202) 515-2703 or via e-mail at kmathers@tfi.org.
